Also called MTTR, Mean time to recover, Failed deployment recovery time
How long it takes to get back to healthy after something breaks. DORA's current version, failed deployment recovery time, counts only failures caused by a change.
You can't stop every failure, and you can decide how fast you recover. It is why rollbacks and flags pay for themselves. Take care with the mean, because one bad day can dominate it, so report the median as well.
Say it to your agent
“Compute our recovery time from this quarter's incident log, both the median and the worst, and leave out the two provider outages. Then split each incident into time to notice, time to decide and time to fix, and tell me which part is largest.”
